Refurbishment process of used forklift trucks from Toyota in video

Toyota Material Handling UK has produced a video showing the refurbishment process of used forklift trucks at their fleet management centre based in Leicestershire, which has been promoted via YouTube.

Toyota spent two days filming the different stages of the refurbishment process at the Fleet Management Centre in Old Dalby, Leicestershire. The video captures the whole process from the trucks arriving to pre-inspections, work beginning to the refurbished trucks leaving to go on to its second life.

All Toyota used equipment is fully renovated and prepared at the dedicated UK fleet management centre, using the same Toyota Production System (TPS) process as the new trucks, ensuring high levels of quality. All Toyota used equipment comes from its contract hire fleet, so it has been maintained by fully trained Toyota technicians, using genuine manufacturer's parts from new.

Specialist engineers carry out a multi-point check of all major components to ensure the truck meets our quality standards. It is then graded and prepared to one of three finish levels, Silver, Gold or Platinum.

The video begins once the truck arrives at the fleet management centre and takes the viewer through the whole refurbishment process seeing TPS in action within a non-manufacturing environment.

Toyota is one of the world's greatest manufacturers and is respected due to the TPS process. TPS is an expression of the Toyota Way and was founded in the 1950s to improve product quality and avoid waste during manufacturing; It is based on two key principles Lean production and Jidoka (making abnormalities visible). A world- class system such as TPS, improves manufacturing to be reliable, durable, high quality, better productivity and a greater return on investment.

Tony Wallis, Sales and Marketing Director at Toyota Material Handling UK said "Toyota and BT equipment is built to last. Our used equipment offers a great solution for customers who are looking for quality equipment at competitive prices". Wallis adds 'the video is a great opportunity to show customers TPS in action throughout the refurbishment process and the dedication spent on making used equipment suitable for its second working life is extremely important to us that our customers understand the Toyota Way as it is the foundation of everything we do'.

The Toyota Refurbishment Facility video is now live on YouTube and is receiving positive feedback, Toyota hopes by using social media sites customers will develop a better understanding of the people, process and products behind the Toyota brand.
