Severnside Recycling, a market leader in recycling and waste management, is playing an important role in helping to drive forward Wales' economic recovery. Mathew Prosser, Severnside's commercial director, is part of a select group of leading names in Welsh business charged with developing and delivering the country's National Recovery Plan.
The National Recovery Plan has been devised by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce to stimulate and support Welsh business as the UK comes out of recession. It aims to create a dialogue that will see the business community working closely with the Welsh Assembly Government to deliver a more prosperous Wales.
Mathew Prosser is one of 12 leading business names involved in the task group, which is driven by influential private sector businesses from all industries within Wales. Other members of the group include Terry Hicks, managing director of Hicks Logistics; Paul Ragan, director of Collateral Thinking; Richard Matthews, managing director of Freshbaked; Brian Morgan, professor at Cardiff School of Management; and Stuart Taylor, vice president of the chamber and head of external relations Wales for the Royal Mail.
On his involvement, Mathew Prosser commented: "I'm delighted to have been asked to be involved in finding ways to drive forward Wales' economic recovery. As a member of a sustainable business, we can see the opportunities that increasing environmental legislation, emerging green technologies and improving recycling participation could bring to Wales. Indeed, we believe that Wales could be a centre for environmental excellence. Although it's been a difficult few years from an economic perspective, the upturn presents an important opportunity for business leaders to help signpost support and investment that will help new and existing industries and businesses to prosper."
