Printwaste invests in new high-security shredder

Printwaste Recycling & Shredding has taken delivery of a new high-capacity paper shredder at its Cheltenham site to increase throughput and meet rising demand for its specialist confidential data destruction and recycling services.

Installed at Printwaste's Tewkesbury Road premises, the Meltog PS74 machine is part of an overall £800,000 investment throughout the company in response to overall general business growth achieved throughout last year and planned for 2012.

Innovative and more energy-efficient through the use of state-of-the-art electronic controls, this compact new shredder, which is designed and manufactured in the UK, provides additional four-tonnes per hour capacity for the secure destruction of confidential documents.

Installed in tandem with existing machinery, its contra-rotating shaft cutters produce a consistent particle size to a high security level. This is critical to the highly-efficient and secure destruction of large volumes of sensitive documents, such as used cheques and archive clearances - enabling Printwaste to offer some of the most superior and competitively-priced shredding services in the country.

Once the paper is shredded using this secure data destruction process, it is baled on site before being sent for recycling into new paper products.

Printwaste's Managing Director Don Robins explained: "Growing demand from more clients requiring secure data destruction services has prompted our investment in this state-of-the-art machinery, which maximises efficiency with greater throughput while maintaining the required particle size. This allows for future anticipated growth in this fast-growing sector.

He added: "Comprehensive information destruction procedures have become increasingly important as a result of the Data Protection Act and a greater awareness of the risk of identity theft. Any organisation that handles personal information must comply with the Act and dispose of sensitive data appropriately or face hefty penalties."

Printwaste provides a complete range of recycling and secure shredding management solutions to public and private sector clients of all sizes, both regionally and across the UK. The firm is accredited to the UK's highest standards including ISO 9001:2008 incorporating BS EN 15713:2009, the bespoke standard for information destruction and holds full ISO 14001 certification.

It is a principal member of the British Security Industry Association and national service operator The Shredding Alliance, as well as an Environment Agency-registered waste carrier.
