Printwaste Recycling & Shredding's support for a local medical charity that recycles unwanted festive and greetings cards got the seal of approval from the Mayor of Cheltenham during her recent visit to the town's Cobalt offices.
Councillor Barbara Driver met charity volunteers, fundraisers and representatives from Cheltenham-based Printwaste during her tour of the Linton House medical imaging clinic.
"It's a brilliant and simple sustainable scheme, which helps the charity and saves waste," said Councillor Driver. "As a cancer survivor myself, I have a particular special interest in the scheme and I'm delighted to see the hard-working efforts of all involved in making it such a success."
Cobalt raises around £40,000 annually through its recycling project, which re-uses and sells cards throughout the year. Any leftover card waste is recycled free of charge by Printwaste, which supplies regional and national confidential data destruction and recycling services and already handles Cobalt's general paper and cardboard waste.
Printwaste also helped to boost Cobalt's card volumes by encouraging clients to get involved. Wheelie bins were provided to store cards before collection at three of its larger customers' sites - Endsleigh Insurance, UCAS and Cheltenham Borough Council.
"Thanks to extra support from our customers, we have been able to raise card donation levels and do even more to support this very worthy cause," commented Printwaste Director Geof Robins.
