City Link, the UK's premium express delivery Company has appointed Steve Harman General Manager of its Bristol Depot.
The move marks a return to the parcels industry for Steve who in recent years has worked for himself as part of the Government's Home Computing Initiative.
Steve started in the parcels industry in 1982 when he worked for DHL in the Middle East. After five years he was transferred to Zambia where he stayed until the mid 1990s, before moving to Australia where he worked for a Melbourne-based courier.
He also lived in Hong Kong for a year from 1997 to 1998 while working for Linehaul Express.
In 2000 Steve was contacted by DHL which offered him a job in the UK. After 18 months Steve left the business to set up his own venture.
Steve said: "I am delighted to be appointed General Manager of the City Link Bristol Depot. City Link has an excellent reputation in the industry and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues at Bristol to build on that reputation locally.
"In my new role I will be responsible for a team of 100 who actively serve 400 Customers across the BS and BA postcodes. It promises to be an exciting challenge and one I am really looking forward to."
Steve, of Bradford-on-Avon, is married to Pamela and has two grown up children - Craig, aged 24 and Katherine, aged 19.
In his spare time he enjoys motor sports, golf and cooking.
City Link, which is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary, employs 5,500 people throughout the UK, operating 3,000 vehicles from a network of 85 Depots, handling approximately 350,000 parcels daily.
