Peakers at the Work Wise UK Summit annouced

One week to the second Work Wise UK Summit. The Work Wise UK Summit 2007 will be held at the QEII Conference Centre, Westminster, London, on Wednesday May 16. It marks the start of the second Work Wise Week, which will also include National Work From Home Day on Friday May 18.

The Work Wise UK Summit, which will be chaired by Declan Curry, business presenter for BBC Breakfast, will discuss and debate how we create a smarter working Britain. Speakers include:

路 Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP, Secretary of State, Department for Communities and Local Government, and Minister for Women

路 Brendan Barber, secretary general, TUC

路 Sir Digby Jones, UK skills envoy and former director general of the CBI

路 David Frost, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce

路 David Lennan, chairman of Work Wise UK and former director general of the British Chambers of Commerce

路 Edmund King, executive director, RAC Foundation

路 Clive Ansell, director of strategy, BT Group

路 Ben Plowden, director for travel demand management, Transport for London

Work Wise Week is organised by Work Wise UK, a not-for-profit initiative to promote smarter working practices such as flexible working, including condensed hours and nine-day fortnights, remote and mobile working, and working from home. It is supported by a number of leading organisations including the CBI, TUC, British Chambers of Commerce, BT and Transport for London.

Smarter working practices revolutionise the way people work and lead to increased business productivity and competitiveness, reduced transport congestion and pollution, improved health, assist disadvantaged groups, and harmonise work and family commitments
