Family-owned real ale brewery Palmers is pulling its pints with the help of a new Mercedes-Benz delivery truck.
Delivered by South-West dealer City West Commercials, the Axor 1824 has joined a fleet of 10 trucks, based at Palmers' brewery and headquarters in Bridport, Dorset.
Founded in 1794, Palmers is a family business and one of a select few breweries with over two centuries of history behind it. With quality and reliability of paramount importance to such a historic business, Mercedes-Benz was the obvious choice when selecting a new delivery vehicle.
Ensuring that products reach customers on time and in perfect condition is critical for any business, and Palmers likes to keep things in house wherever possible as Head Brewer Darren Batten explains:
"We deliver our beers to 55 of our own Pubs and also to a very extensive free trade throughout the South of England. We consider it of paramount importance to have our own delivery fleet unlike some brewers who have outsourced."
Palmers used it experience to ensure it selected the ideal vehicle. "This is the third generation of Mercedes Benz truck that has won through exhaustive tests to be our choice of the future."
Palmers new Axor was provided by South West dealer City West Commercials as one of the last Euro5 production vehicles in the UK. Mr Batten explains the reason for choosing this dealer over others: "City West Commercials were prompt and efficient at getting us into a demonstrator, whereas other suppliers were not so helpful."
The body for Palmers new vehicle was provided by Transload to the highest specification ensuring that the company's livery colours and the factory paint were perfectly matched. "Transload listened to our needs and worked with us on design," says Mr Batten.
