Lichfield-based Palletways Group, Europe's largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, has recruited Barry Byers as Regional General Manager to lead the business in the south east of England.
Byers, who started in post in February, brings 15 years of operational and commercial experience gained in senior management roles at TNT Express and most recently the Royal Mail Group. Positions held included responsibility for the management of multiple collection and delivery sites across the south east of England to include south, east and central London, Kent, Surrey and east and west Sussex.
Martyn Young, Palletways managing director, said: "It's great to have Barry on board. He brings with him a wealth of management experience and a fantastic knowledge of the south east, both of which provide an excellent grounding for his new role with us."
About his appointment, Barry Byers said: "I'm delighted to be joining the Palletways senior management team. Initially, I intend to focus on building strong relationships with our membership to enhance our quality of service. In partnership with our members, I aim to develop commercial opportunities and drive business forward to benefit all parties."
The Palletways Group is made up of over 300 depots and ten hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 11 European countries, including the UK. The company's distribution networks are made up of independent transport companies who share resources to deliver small consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively.
