Palletforce member Avon Freight has been awarded the prestigious British Retail Consortium food grade accreditation.
The Redditch-based transport company underwent six-months of rigorous training and checks to ensure it met the strict criteria needed and has seen its hard-work rewarded with the awarding of the accreditation by the BRC. It means the company can now store food products in its warehouses.
"The BRC accreditation is like having the university degree of logistics and warehousing, so for Avon to be awarded the accreditation is fantastic news for all our staff and customers. It means we have been certified by an independent company as having highest levels of hygiene, great storage facilities and excellent customer service levels," said Simon Poole, managing director of Avon Freight.
"I would like to personally thank every single person who works at Avon for their hard-work, commitment and enthusiasm to gaining this accreditation. They all played their part and we wouldn't have got there without any of them. Being part of Palletforce's network certainly aided us in our quest for BRC accreditation."
Avon started life back in the 1970s initially offering services to both Northern and Southern Ireland, and now has its own fleet of vehicles serving the UK and Europe and two large storage units in Redditch. It has been a member of Palletforce - the UK's leading palletised distribution network - since 2001.
Michael Conroy, Chief Executive of Palletforce, said "It is great to see Avon Freight gaining such a well-recognised and respected certification, and is truly deserved as the company has grown rapidly in the logistics and warehousing sector since 2008. It gives them an added credibility and we look forward to seeing Avon celebrate even more success in the future."
