A transport firm is celebrating 30 years in business and, according to the woman in charge, it's all down to hard work, dedication and common sense.
Paddy Green set up GE-BE Transport with husband David in 1982, starting out with just one 3.5 tonne truck.
"It's been a lot of hard work and we couldn't have done it without the loyalty of our customers - we still work for some customers who used us in our first year - and, of course, our fantastic staff," said Paddy.
Now the family-run firm in Saddlebow Industrial Estate, King's Lynn is celebrating 30 years in business, although sadly David passed away in 1995.
The couple's two sons Carl and Jason are directors in the business - Carl, who joined in 1985, looks after the GE-BE operation while Jason, who joined in 1982, is in charge of the work that comes through Palletforce, the UK's leading palletised distribution network of which GE-BE is a founding member.
"Becoming a member of Palletforce opened up a lot of doors for us as it meant we could cater for all sizes of deliveries," said Paddy.
"Thirty years ago we had no idea we would still be running today, never mind performing so strongly."
GE-BE Transport's customers include stationery manufacturers, mineral companies, book binders, salt and charcoal manufacturers, and their newest and biggest customer is a very large paper manufacturer for newsprint.
As well as operating a strong business, GE-BE has also won awards from Truckfest and classic vehicle festivals for its restoration of a 1943 Austin K2 truck.
The truck was bought by David who began lovingly restoring the dilapidated vehicle to its former glory. Following his death the project was continued and the Austin is now displayed at various events.
"Paddy and David built their business from the ground up and by focusing on providing a great customer service GE-BE has thrived and continues to go from strength to strength. We are delighted to have them as part of our network," said Palletforce Chief Executive Michael Conroy.
