CHEP, the global leader in pallet and container pooling services, has appointed Howard Wigham as Managing Director of its UK & Ireland Pallets operation.
Mr Wigham replaces Michael Pooley, who moves to the role of Senior Vice President, Sales & Customer Operations at CHEP USA following three years leading CHEP UK & Ireland.
CHEP EMEA & Asia-Pacific Group President, Dolph Westerbos, said: "Mike has shown strong leadership in driving consistent innovation and growth in CHEP UK & Ireland, while enhancing our commitment to the customer experience.
"Mike leaves in place a solid foundation on which Howard can build, and I'm looking forward to working with Howard now as we look to continue to grow and to expand the range and quality of our services to our customers in this important region."
Mr Wigham, who is British, will relocate to the UK from Sydney, Australia, where he has been working in various roles in the strategy and planning team of CHEP's parent company, Brambles Limited, for which he first worked in 1999.
His roles at Brambles have included President, CHEP Asia-Pacific, for almost six years to 2008. More recently, he led the reusable produce crate (RPC) due diligence program for Brambles' acquisition of IFCO Systems.
Mr Wigham said: "This is an exciting opportunity and I'm relishing getting to grips with the role. Business growth, service innovation, customer service delivery and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability are all high on my list of priorities for the business. And I'm looking forward to being able to deliver against these objectives.
"I'm also looking forward to getting out and about, meeting our customers and the CHEP UK & Ireland team, and developing strong working relationships. I thank Mike for his work over the past three years and know he will be successful in CHEP USA."
