Once again TDG has celebrated the exceedingly high standards of its sites and drivers with this years health and safety awards.
LGV driver of the year
TDG s LGV Driver of the year for 2009 is Michael Dee, a Stowmarket based driver, who received a customer commendation for working over and above the call of duty to make sure production lines ran smoothly. Michael received a cheque for £2000 and the coveted TDG 1 number-plate on his truck for a year.
Second and third places both went to tanker drivers based at TDG s Thurrock depot. Alan Turner, a previous driver of the year award winner, averted a dangerous situation by his quick thinking. His rapid actions received a customer commendation and a cheque for £1000. Third prize was awarded to David Carruthers, who received a customer commendation for taking time to clean up an area, even though it was not his job.
MHE driver of the year
MHE driver Brendan Green from Bromford Gate was awarded TDG MHE driver of the year for his sterling work. He completed a massive amount of work almost half the usual time expected to make sure TDG s client s commitments were fulfilled.
Tyrone Green, who also works at Bromford Gate, won second prize. Tyrone helped avoid a potential quality issue when he spotted a part had been labelled incorrectly.
Third prize of £500 went to Anthony Forsdike of Stowmarket for devising magnetic stock ordered signs, which not only removes litter, but contributes to a more efficient way of working.
Depot of the year
This year there were joint winners of the depot of the year award, and both received £2,500 to spend. The shared-user business unit at Ossett and logistics unit at Stowmarket both demonstrated a consistent level of excellence, which is a credit to all involved.
In addition, Ossett site was praised by its Environmental Health Officer for its high standards of health and safety management on site, and Stowmarket has demonstrated a continuous improvement of H&S, even though it is implementing a new warehouse management system DLX and a new customer ERP system SAP
