Norbert Dentressangle has won a new two-year contract, worth £3 million, with Nestlé Waters UK Ltd to provide a cost effective intermodal transportation solution for importing bottled water from Europe that meets Nestle's environmental goals to reduce CO2 emissions.
Nestlé Waters is the world's leading bottled water company - sourcing, bottling and distributing mineral waters from a variety of natural locations to consumers throughout the world. In Europe its portfolio includes a wide range of brands, with the best-known ones in the UK being Buxton Water, Nestlé Pure Life, Vittel, Perrier and San Pellegrino.
By developing an integrated intermodal and road transport service, Norbert Dentressangle offers a higher payload throughput, which significantly cuts the number of road deliveries, providing both cost savings per ton and environmental improvements. The solution can also accommodate volume volatility due to varying weather conditions and consequent consumer demand.
Norbert Dentressangle will make around 900 scheduled collections and deliveries a year, moving full trailer and container loads at fixed times. This will involve collecting Vittel from the eponymous town, and Perrier from Vergeze, in France, and San Pellegrino from two sites in Italy - Madone and Ruspino, and transport to the UK.
Commenting on the new agreement, Frazer Crawley, Distribution Manager for Nestlé Waters UK Ltd, said: "We appointed Norbert Dentressangle as they demonstrated a clear understanding of our business and our requirements for a reliable and flexible solution that can adapt to changing consumer demands".
"As well as being a cost effective delivery service from our European bottling points to the UK, it also meets Nestlé Waters' environmental objectives to minimise road miles as much as possible and reduce our supply chain carbon footprint."
In addition to the new import operation, Norbert Dentressangle already provides a warehousing and logistics services for Nestlé Waters UK Ltd at three sites in Buxton, which deliver its brands to major retailers across the UK.
