Norbert Dentressangle and ASOS welcomed Prime Minister, David Cameron, to the latter's global distribution centre in Barnsley on Thursday 24 October.
Mr Cameron visited the operation ahead of the announcement of the latest economic growth figures, which show that Britain is clearly out of recession. The Prime Minister commended ASOS for its contribution to the local economy and cited the company as an example of the country's economic recovery.
Following a meeting with senior management from ASOS and Norbert Dentressangle, Mr Cameron was given a tour of the site, taking the opportunity to speak to a number of Norbert Dentressangle colleagues.
Neil Whitelaw, Norbert Dentressangle's ASOS Account Director said: "We were delighted that Mr Cameron took the time to visit the Barnsley site and with his recognition of what is an outstanding success story for ASOS, Norbert Dentressangle and for the local area."
Norbert Dentressangle took over the management of ASOS global distribution centre in August, in a partnership which will continue to drive ASOS global service proposition, creating an efficient customer-focused experience, and supporting the company's mission to become the world's number one online destination for young fashion.
With a core workforce of 1,350, Norbert Dentressangle expects to create a further 800 permanent jobs at the site by the end of the year, in addition to hundreds of temporary jobs to support the critical peak trading period.
ASOS recently announced that it will invest a further £25-£30 million in the Barnsley distribution centre over the next 12 months.
