The British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA) has produced a common-sense informative DVD on fire sprinklers, how they work, their benefits and how they can play an important part in protecting life, minimising the impact of fire and helping organisations fulfil their legal obligations under recently introduced fire legislation.
The 'Wise up to Fire: Sprinklers for Safety' DVD contains a broad range of information, advice and guidance for owners and managers of residential, industrial, commercial and educational properties. It will also prove to be of value to building designers, specifiers, developers and planners and regulators. Among the subjects covered are how to use sprinklers to allow flexibility of design, to reduce the cost of new construction. The DVD also looks at the financial benefits of sprinklers, and the role they can play in business continuity planning and in reducing environmental pollution.
BAFSA has also published its latest Sprinkler Yearbook (2009/10). This edition includes a range of topics such as fire safety and disability, sprinklers and warehousing, sprinkler testing and maintenance, and domestic and residential sprinkler systems.
Both the book and the DVD are available free of charge, and can be ordered from BAFSA via email (info@bafsa.org.uk).
