New Materials Handling attachment for Scissor Lifts

Aerial and Handling Services Ltd have designed and produced a new materials handling attachment for scissor lifts. The deckRail Xtra™ system is designed to safely restrain and hold materials in place, allowing freedom of movement for the Operator without any intrusion into the platform deck area.

This new system has been carefully thought out and designed to complement the Genie GS1932 scissor lift.

The deckRail Xtra™ system has been manufactured using well established engineering principles and an innovative, harmonised design approach, both ergonomic and intuitive to use, the whole system perfectly complementing the

GS1932.

Aerial and Handling Services Ltd have seen a growing interest in the number of customers determined to improve their own safety standards by having an additional materials handling attachment and, as there was nothing suitable on the market, decided to design and build their own.

"We could see customers being frustrated because there was nothing currently available on the market really suitable and we wanted to offer our customers what they have been asking for. By developing the deckRail Xtra™ system we

now have a benchmark product of our own designed specifically to complement the market leading scissor lift manufacturer, Genie. We have GS1932s in our small hire fleet and they are a very popular machine and because Genie have a clear build brief for this type of attachment, it made sense for us to concentrate initially on this model. Now all owners or users of the GS1932 can more safely carry materials if they need to" - Ian Harding, Director, Aerial and

Handling Services Ltd.

The system comprises of cleverly designed floor stiffening saddles and new load bearing outer deckrails (replacing the original deckrails) onto which the jaw brackets can be attached at different locations.

Once installed on the Genie GS1932 the system can be used on either side simultaneously or on one side only. Each jaw bracket has a simple, yet highly effective, lashing strap that can either gather and bundle loose materials and tubing, or restrain larger single items such as ducting etc.

With a SWL of 130kgs per deckrail, and the whole assembly adding only 14kgs to the overall weight of the scissor lift, deckRail Xtra's unique, integrated design leaves an impressive 213kg available for the operator and any materials to be carried.

The design also means that the native deck extension facility of the scissor lift can still be utilised and that any trip hazards have been eliminated.

The whole system is available in complete kit form with all the fasteners and fitment details included and will take approximately 45 minutes to install. It can be left as a permanent installation or the handrails can be swapped back for

the Genie originals leaving the floor plates mounted to the unit.

With a wider 46" version, to complement the Genie GS2646, coming soon, Aerial and Handling Services Ltd plan to continue developing the deckRailXtra™ in accordance to customer requirements.
