New Jungheinrich counterbalanced forklift trucks reach trucks and order pickers for Alliance

Alliance, one of the leading suppliers of non-food catering equipment

and catering disposables in the UK, has upgraded the materials

handling equipment at its Marlow and Glasgow warehouse facilities with

the addition of counterbalanced trucks, reach trucks and order pickers

from Jungheinrich UK Ltd.

Alliance operates a number of regional storage facilities

strategically located around the UK as well as a national hub in

Crewe. The arrival of the new trucks coincides with the company's

decision to move its High Wycombe facility to a bigger site in nearby

Marlow and to expand its Glasgow operation to a larger unit in the

same city.

"Thanks to the growing demand for our products we had outgrown both

the High Wycombe operation and our original Glasgow facility", says

Alliance's operations director, Aidan Walker.

Jungheinrich supplied reach trucks from its ETV range, models from the

EFG Series of electric counterbalance trucks and EKS 110 order pickers.

The racking aisles are served by a combination of order pickers and

reach trucks, while the counterbalanced machines unload and load

incoming and outgoing delivery vehicles and undertake other general

duties at the site.

Jungheinrich's ETV reach truck range provides excellent working

conditions for the operator. For example, there is no steering column

in the cockpit which enables the operator to mount and dismount

quickly and safely. This also ensures ample legroom is available and

provides a comfortable sitting position on the reach truck. In

addition, an adjustable backrest and body weight facility on the

truck's Comfort seat allows the operator to adjust the sitting

position to his or her exact requirements.

Meanwhile, the EFG counterbalance trucks supplied feature fourth

generation AC technology - which means that they offer class leading

performance and the lowest running costs.

Alliance operates Jungheinrich equipment at each of the other sites

within its UK logistics operation and, as Aidan Walker explains, the

company had little hesitation in specifying Jungheinrich products for

the new facilities.

"We have used Jungheinrich trucks throughout our business for several

years during which time we have experienced very few mechanical

problems with the fleet and, apart from routine service and

maintenance, we have had very few occasions to call out an engineer.

We rely on materials handling equipment for the smooth running of our

business and the reliability of the Jungheinrich products is a major

factor in our ability to deliver best in class services to our growing

clients base."

Alliance has over 18,000 line items in its range and its customers

include hotels, pubs, health and leisure clubs, care homes,

restaurants and catering establishments of all shapes and sizes from

major national hotel chains to small high street cafes.
