Multimodal 2026 to put logistics careers in spotlight

The careers day aims to connect schools and colleges with opportunities across freight, logistics and supply chains

Students will be given direct access to logistics employers, apprentices and industry leaders at Multimodal 2026 as the event dedicates its final day to future careers.

The UK freight, logistics and supply chain exhibition has announced that day three of next year’s show will focus entirely on skills, apprenticeships, upskilling and career opportunities.

The final day will take place on 2 July 2026 at the NEC Birmingham.

Schools, colleges and educators will be invited to take part in a structured programme designed to introduce young people to the logistics and supply chain sector.

Students will tour the exhibition floor and meet trade associations, employers and exhibitors from across the industry.

Organisers said the day had been designed to create meaningful links between young people and businesses looking to attract future talent.

The programme will include interactive workshops showing how subjects such as maths, geography, STEM and business connect with global supply chains.

Students will also hear from current apprentices and graduates about their routes into the sector.

Employer-led sessions will highlight the range of roles available, including operations, sustainability, technology, engineering and management.

HR professionals will also speak to students about the skills, knowledge and behaviours employers are looking for.

Robert Jervis, event director at Multimodal, said: “The logistics sector is crying out for talented, passionate young people.”

He said the final day of the event was the show’s “most ambitious attempt yet” to connect students with apprentices, graduates, HR leaders and industry innovators.

“This isn’t just a careers fair; it’s a full day of immersive discovery,” he added.

A key part of the day will be a schools and colleges initiative built around guided tours of the exhibition.

These tours will take student groups around the show floor and help them speak directly with trade bodies and exhibitors.

Participating organisations will include Logistics UK, BIFA, UKWA, CILT and the Cold Chain Federation.

Organisers said the aim was to turn the traditional exhibition visit into a more structured learning experience.

They said students should leave with a clearer understanding of how logistics could shape their future career choices.

The careers-focused day forms part of what organisers say will be the biggest Multimodal event yet.

The 2025 show recorded a 4% rise in visitor numbers.

Multimodal 2026 will run from 30 June to 2 July at the NEC Birmingham and will act as the flagship event for UK Logistics Week 2026.

The wider week will bring together Warehouse, Yard, eDX and the Road Transport Expo, held at NAEC Stoneleigh.

Organisers said the combined programme would create a major hub for logistics innovation and collaboration.

The 2026 show will also feature a new web-based event app that does not require a download.

The app will provide live updates, conference schedules, meeting request tools and an exhibitor directory.

Schools and educators attending the careers day will be able to use it to plan visits and schedule sessions.

The conference programme will run across four theatres over three days, with speakers from across the logistics and supply chain industry.

Registration for Multimodal 2026 is free and now open.
