Morrisons Supermarket Logistics Division awarded accreditation from Royal Society for Public Health

Morrisons has been awarded accreditation status by the Royal Society for

Public Health (RSPH - http://www.rsph.org.uk ), in recognition of the high

quality food safety training in their Logistics division.

Delivering the freshest produce to Morrisons stores on time, every time is a

demanding task. Excellent food safety training across a broad range of roles

in logistics is vital to ensure that every store receives its order safely.

The RSPH accreditation scheme is designed to endorse training programmes

that support health, hygiene and safety. The training provided by Morrisons

has been rigorously examined by independent experts to ensure it is of the

highest quality and meets national standards.

Professor Richard Parish, chief executive of RSPH, comments: "Morrisons has

now achieved accreditation for training in both the Retail and Logistics

divisions of its business. Once again the company has demonstrated its

commitment to the highest standards, ensuring that staff and customers

receive excellent service."

Morrisons stores, located from the Highlands of Scotland to the Cornish

coast are serviced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through strategically

located regional distribution centres. The Logistics team has to ensure that

food is handled safely throughout, across all temperature bands from ambient

to chilled and frozen. Repercussions of poor food handling are far reaching

so it is crucial that every member of staff involved in this operation is

properly trained.

Liz Window, Morrisons Training Lead, Logistics , says: "Our Retail division

achieved RSPH accreditation last year so we have first hand experience of

the value of this expert assessment. The RSPH has helped us to enhance the

quality of our training programmes and ensure they deliver real value to the

organisation."

programmes should contact Anna Zilnyk at the Royal Society for Public Health
