Michael Kamper, Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK, has been appointed Head of Marketing, Sales & Customer Services for Daimler Trucks Asia, effective from March 2015. This new position is part of the top 100 Executive Management team of Daimler AG.
Michael Kamper (49) joined Daimler-Benz in 1995 and enjoyed two stints in management roles at Mercedes-Benz UK, firstly from 2001 to 2004 as Marketing Manager Trucks, and from 2012 until now, as Managing Director Commercial Vehicles (2012-2013) and Managing Director Trucks
(2014).
Gary Savage, CEO Mercedes-Benz UK, commented on the announcement: “Over the last two and a half years Michael’s passion, enthusiasm and drive have helped move the truck business forward and I’m certain that in his new role, Michael will continue to ‘deliver the goods’ to his own high standards to a new group of customers.
“In January 2014 Mercedes-Benz UK restructured into three divisions, and Michael, with sole responsibility for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, including the FUSO brand, built a team of dedicated and highly capable Truck professionals, who in-turn focused on delivering an unsurpassed level of service to our Mercedes-Benz UK’s Truck customers.”
Acknowledged as a leading truck industry authority with expertise in international sales and customer experience, Michael Kamper was previously based in Germany and had responsibility for Daimler Trucks' International Key Account Management and oversaw International Account Management for commercial vehicle body builders.
“I’m absolutely delighted to take over responsibility for Head of Marketing, Sales & Customer Services for Daimler Trucks Asia, focusing on brands FUSO and Bharat Benz,” said Michael. “We have an outstanding organisation in this region which serves our customers the best standards in providing technologically advanced products and outstanding customer care.”
“As I take this next step in my career I have great satisfaction in knowing that I’m handing over a solid baton and until a successor is in place the very capable Truck management team will continue to deliver a sound result.”
He continued: “Over the last few years we’ve introduced a number of business changes in the UK that have shown real sustainable benefits to our customers and their positive feedback has been an incredible driving force. The team, both at Mercedes-Benz HQ in the UK and our franchised dealer network, have shown real passion for our Truck range and our Customer Service offerings and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them all.
“Having relocated back to the UK in 2012 and having lived, worked and seen my children enter schooling, it was a tough decision to make but I know this move is going to be incredibly rewarding. My family were supportive from the start and that made the decision easier for me.”
A new Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK will be announced mid-January 2015.
