MGB Plastics helps local council in its quest to save over a £1 million in recycling by supplying 45,000 wheelie bins
The UK's leading manufacturer of wheeled bins is helping a local council with one of the best recycling rates in the UK achieve savings of over £1 million in waste management by supplying its products.
MGB Plastics has just started a roll-out of 45,000 of its new-shaped 240L bins direct to homeowners in the north west after winning a contract to supply Cheshire East Council.
The bins, which will be manufactured in silver, will play a crucial role in the Council's drive to increase its recycling rate and achieve savings of more than £1 million after introducing a new waste and recycling collection service.
The new service will operate on a new three bin system, one each for recycling, garden and residual waste to replace the different waste collection schemes it was operating.
The silver bins provided by MGB Plastics, which will be manufactured at its factory in Rotherham, will be central to the Council's new initiative as it will be used to collect all recyclables, including all grades of paper, mixed glass, tetrapaks, cans, aluminium foil, aerosols and mixed plastics that will be collected on an alternate weekly schedule.
It is the first time MGB Plastics has worked with Cheshire East Council to provide its wheeled bins and services. The first of the bins, which will be delivered to homes in Crewe, Nantwich and Macclesfield, have already started to arrive with the roll-out expected to be completed in May.
Conor Sugrue, general manager at MGB Plastics, said: "We are delighted to be supporting and working alongside Cheshire East Council and playing our part in helping them achieve their recycling targets.
"Our aim as a provider of waste management products is to provide solution in tackling the UK's recycling rate and this contract is a great example of this in action.
"As a business we want to become the number one provider of waste management products by choice for all local authorities and private operators and this contract is a further example of this."
MGB Plastics recently supplied 25,000 of its new-shaped 240L bins to Cheltenham Borough Council as part of a new waste collection scheme. Months earlier it provided over 50,000 new wheelie bins to homeowners across Kent and Hertfordshire.
Cheshire East Council already recycles more than the national average and has the best recycling rate in the North West. This new scheme will allow it to improve on its almost 50 per cent recycling rate.
