Recovery operators show a success despite the weather! Although cloaked in an impenetrable grey rain cloud for most of the three-day event, the Leicester Marriott Hotel was the place to be for the UK recovery industry last weekend, as it was the location of the AVRO EX Roadshow 2008.
One of the events primary attractions was the LSUK stand where recover
professionals came to see the huge range of products that the company provides
to the industry. Not only did the visitors keenly view the products, many also bought on the day and LSUK are pleased to report a roaring trade on everything from Dickies professional workwear, Lucas batteries and chargers, safety straps and booster cables to recovery light beacon bars and TomTom satellite tracking equipment.
Commenting on the show, LSUK's head of business development, Nigel Rodgers said:
"This was the first time that we have exhibited at the AVRO Roadshow and we are
delighted at the result. Despite some pretty inclement weather during the event, it's great to see that it didn't put of the industries hardy professionals."
To complement the business done during the show, Saturday night was the time for
visitors and exhibitors to relax, let their hair-down and enjoy the fabulous
gala dinner. The event, which is organised by AVRO, was this year sponsored by LSUK and as important as the social gathering is, it's the charity element which really sets the evening apart.
By donating a brand new, top-of-the-range light bar to the after dinner auction,
LSUK really raised the charity stakes. This fantastic gift contributed an
amazing £1,800 to the AVRO Benevolent Society, as Alan Sherwood of Irish Towing
Services, Dublin showed their support by making the winning bid.
"Every aspect of the association with the AVRO Roadshow has been a success for
LSUK," added Rodgers, "but the real appreciation goes to the visitors who not
only braved the weather to attend the event, but also dipped their hands deep
into their pockets to raise such a large sum for the charity. Particular thanks
also needs to go to Alan Sherwood for buying the light bar at very nearly its
actual retail value!"
