Logistics firm SLi proves pigs can fly
Colchester-based logistics firm SLi is managing the logistics of Suffolk’s largest ever mass-participation public art trail when 40 pig sculptures make their appearance in Ipswich and beyond.
The interactive sculpture trail, called Pigs Gone Wild, is a joint art event created by Elizabeth Hospice and Wild in Art, and will run from 27th June to 2nd September. Many local businesses have sponsored the 1500 kilo pigs that measure over 2 meters long and have been designed by both local and international artists.
Pig trail hunters will be able to collect points with a Pigs Gone Wild app while they try and see as many sculptures as possible with the opportunity to win prizes. Some of the pigs on display include “Ed Sheer-ham”, “Major Tim Pig” and “Pepper Pig”. At the end of the ten weeks, the 40 sculptures will be auctioned off to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice.
SLi, a founder member and now one of the largest members of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing palletised freight network, is providing logistics management for the entire event. The company has managed the logistics of the sculptures to their specific GPS locations in Ipswich and will collect the pigs to take them to auction once the exhibition ends and fly them around the world to the auction winners. SLi have even sponsored their own pig sculpture named Boarba Fett.
