Following the success of last week's Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) Annual Awards For Excellence, the Institute's President, Richard Brown CBE FCILT, CEO of Eurostar, is pleased to announce that leading transport consultant Jim Steer has been made a Vice President of CILT(UK).
Jim Steer FCILT founded the well-respected transport consultancy Steer Davies Gleave in 1978, and in recent years he has also been Managing Director, Strategic Planning at the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA). Jim is also a Director of Greengauge 21, which campaigns for high speed rail in Britain.
Richard Brown says: 'I am delighted that Jim Steer has agreed to become a Vice President of the Institute. He is a widely respected figure in transport planning. His new role underlines one of the goals of my Presidency, to highlight the relevance of membership of CILT to anyone who is serious about a career in transport and who is interested in its wider contribution to our national economy.'
Jim Steer adds: 'I am very pleased to have been asked to take on the position of Vice President. I have been a member of CILT for many years and I am looking forward to helping support the Institute in raising the profile of transport planning professionals.'
