With Kale’s fast growing community platform solutions- UPLIFT (Cargo Community System) and GMAX (Airport Cargo Community System), two of the leading European carriers have attained 100% EDI for air waybills in May 2015, for their flights from the Mumbai International Airport.
Kale Logistics Solutions-a leading global IT provider to the Logistics, Airports and Transportation segments, today announced that it has added another milestone to its many firsts by successfully helping two large European carriers achieve 100% EDI through its proven community platforms- UPLIFT & GMAX.
UPLIFT and GMAX are both first of their kind community platforms in India incorporating features for the benefit of each and every stakeholder involved in the movement of air cargo. The two online platforms enable digital information transmission between carrier, exporter/importer (forwarder), Airport cargo ground handler, customs, chambers of commerce, transporters and government authorities. GMAX and UPLIFT are the answers to the problem of increasing EDI penetration worldwide and they are currently helping forwarders and carriers in India to exchange electronic Air Way Bills (e-AWB) successfully. They have contributed in catapulting India in top 10 e-AWB countries in the world.
With IATA pushing for a deeper e-AWB penetration, most carriers have a “mandate” from their Headquarters to attain greater EDI penetration for their region. With Kale’s service these European carriers are now realizing benefits of EDI in setting and attaining new benchmarks for their stations and setting a standard for others to emulate.
“We have been working very closely with these airlines and their agents so as to understand the challenges in attaining the 100% EDI goal. It has been our endeavor to make technology accessible to all stakeholders such that it can unify the entire logistics supply chain on a common unified platform. And to attain this goal, we are happy to have industry and stakeholder support, which alone can make this model a global success. We have now proven that 100% e-AWB is a possibility and world class infrastructure for paperless movement of cargo is no longer a distant dream but is a reality. ” said Mr. Amar More, SVP- Kale Logistics Solutions.
He further added, “Forwarders can avail this service by three different models of EDI implementation at present- an EDI Interface (third party interface (TPI)), direct filing to the CCS portal using secured web login and innovative .pdf extraction based Bureau service for forwarders who cannot opt for both TPI and portal. The EDI facility has been rolled out for carriers operating single daily flight & multiple daily flights to Mumbai Airport. 100% EDI penetration for one of the European carriers were attained on 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd May respectively. Similarly another European carrier is set to attain 100% EDI compliance by 30th May.
According to Mr. Vineet Malhotra- SVP, Kale Logistics Solutions, “Kale is not only helping forwarders in saving significant money with each AWB filing but also helping carriers achieve 100% EDI compliant status. We are delighted that at present Kale is the only service provider in India to fulfill this requirement successfully and all major carriers operating out of Mumbai Airport are on board Kale’s platform. In coming days we look forward to making this service available to carriers serving at all other Indian Airports as well.”
