Just what the doctor ordered

IPP Logipal, the fast growing pallet rental specialist, has been awarded a new three-year contract with Dr. Oetker UK, owners of the Onken brand.

Based in Leeds, Dr. Oetker is a German family business manufacturing high quality foods. Now in its fourth generation, the company was established in 1891 and has become a worldwide operation.

Onken produces a range of chilled dairy products, including the award winning BIOPOT yogurt. The company entered the UK market in 1988 and was an immediate success. Dr. Oetker acquired the Onken brand in 2004.

With over one million cases of yogurts, desserts and mousses despatched every month, an effective and robust pallet supply chain solution is vital for delivering the chilled short shelf life products.

The operation uses standard UK size pallets, which will be supplied from IPP Logipal's Newport location to the distribution centre in Gloucester. Over 100,000 one-way pallet trips will be made a year to retailers and wholesalers across the UK.

The service provides a high quality and cost effective solution for Dr. Oetker with quality control checks and is measured against a set of agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).

Head of supply chain at Dr. Oetker UK, Rachael Lorman, comments: " After looking at the major pallet rental companies, IPP Logipal stood out with its highly reputable service. It is competitively priced with a simple yet effective implementation plan.

"With our fresh chilled foods having a relatively short shelf life, we need a quality and reliable pallet provider."

She adds: "Working with IPP Logipal is highly cost effective and is also significantly reducing the amount of administration we do."
