Imtech Inviron who operate technical facilities management have ordered a further crane from Konecranes UKās industrial crane division for its customer GE Group - GE Oil & Gas, Broadfield Rd, Aberdeen.
It is another 100/20t SMTD crane to operate on a 17.5m span. This is the 3rd such crane to be delivered this year for the same facility. SMT stands for KONECRANES SMT SMARTONĀ®, which is an intelligent, yet easy-to-use Human Interface to Machine (HIM) system keeping the user continuously up to date on not only the weight of the load but also its position relative to the available workspace. In addition, the crane monitors its own condition and recommends when and what kind of inspection or preventive maintenance should be performed. This way, the customer can better plan and minimize maintenance shutdowns, thereby maximizing uptime and saving costs.
The crane has all of Konecranes standard features relating to their SMARTON product range, DynAHoist and Dynac variable speed invertor control on each motion, true vertical lifting on each hoist (both hoists are Samrton), HIM radio control with a spare transmitter and incorporating a load display and XYZ hook position indication, trolley platform, hoist and lower limit switches, travel and traverse limit switches, anti collision system with adjacent Konecranes cranes on the same runway, festooned cross crane cables, panel lighting, plug and sockets at the panel, disc brakes on all motions, overload protection.
Then other features include a separate crane mounted load display, girder platform, epoxy paint, load summation between hooks, totally enclosed gearing and crane drives, remote services where the crane can be monitored remotely for performance and current status in terms of service readiness and the ability to produce reports on past performance and utilization. The system also allows predictability if events change and parts can be made ready prior to the actual need for immediate replacement thus reducing downtime awaiting parts and reduces spares inventory.
The crane is to be delivered from Konecranes East Kilbride factory in December 2014.
