igus Stand M32 TOC Europe Exhibition, ExCel, London 24th - 26th June, 2014
Leading plastics expert, igus, will be exhibiting its innovative range of cable management systems, flexible cables and bearings solutions for the port and terminal technology industry at this year's TOC Europe exhibition. The event, being held at the ExCel Centre in London on the 24th-26th June, will allow visitors to see first-hand how igus is helping ports, terminals and shipping lines to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and switch to more cost effective polymer equipment.
igus' system meets all the requirements to supply rubber tyred gantry RTG cranes with both electrical power and data in an energy efficient manner. The e-rover is suitable for long travels of up to 800 m or more and provides interference-free data transfer via igus chainflex bus cables or, for higher data rates, igus fibre optic cables. The rover enables RTG cranes to now be driven electrically rather than by a diesel engine. The e-rover is also unique in that it can carry different media (power, data, fluids, etc.) easily together in one single system.
The P4 roller chain system for crane applications has the ability to travel at high speeds and over long distances, whilst being able to support high cable fill weights of up to 30kg/m. The AUTO-GLIDE crossbars help ensure stability and safe guidance when travelling the long distances typically seen in cranes or bulk handling conveyor systems.
igus will also be demonstrating its super aluminium guide troughs for long travels, which come in a basic and heavy duty version. The basic can be used for general mechanical engineering applications, whilst the heavy duty is more often used on cranes and bulk handling applications. The corrosion and seawater resistant troughs ensure smooth low friction operation of igus' e-chain and e-tubes, even in tough operations.
At the exhibition, igus will also be presenting other products for use in and around ports and shipping districts. The e-spool can be used as a replacement for cable reels on cranes. The major benefits are the ability to mix services in one system and the continuous end-to-end connections of the cables, with no need for slip rings or junctions. The tensionable spring system allows operators to tune the retraction force on the e-chain.
The igus tri-spool is a variation of e-spool which allows the cable guidance system to move freely within a working area thanks to the use of igus triflex R for 3D movements. The tri-spool which offers an alternative to cable drums, and again enables energy, data and media to be carried together in one system.
