Hellmann Worldwide Logistics awarded new industry accolade by GIL

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, the leading global logistics operation, has been awarded the inaugural '"Best Global Logistics Service Provider (LSP) 2006-07" accolade by the Global Institute of Logistics (GIL). The award was presented to Hellmann's Managing Owners, Klaus and Jost Hellmann, during the company's annual worldwide meeting held in Singapore recently.

Upon presenting the award, the GIL's Chief Executive Officer Kieran Ring commented:

"I am delighted to announce Hellmann Worldwide Logistics as the recipient of the Global Institute of Logistics inaugural 'Global LSP of the Year 2006-2007' accreditation."

"It is our considered opinion that Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is the finest example of a relationship driven global logistics service provider and evidently meet with the specific criteria set down by the Institute's Council in the naming of this award." He added.

A decision to launch the award was made by the GIL at the annual general meeting of the Institute in March, which was followed by a rigorous research programme that assessed logistics providers using strict criteria established by the GIL Council. Hellmann was selected from a shortlist of logistics providers as the operator that best reflects GIL's classification of a 'best in class' provider in the current global logistics environment.

Kieran Ring continued:

"Our investigations concluded that for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, relationships are key to every aspect of their work. As a family owned and operated business, Hellmann has survived and prospered through four generations since its foundation in Osnabrueck Germany in 1871, by putting the customer first and placing integrity and trust at the heart of every single relationship both within and outside the organization."

Hellmann's operation in the United Kingdom is based in Lichfield, Staffordshire, with nine sites throughout the British Isles. Martin Meyer, Managing Director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK commented:

"Everyone at Hellmann is proud and delighted to have been presented the inaugural Global Logistics Service Provider of the year award. As a global operation we are committed to working together with our customers and developing strong business relationships – and this is certainly something we pride ourselves on in the UK."

The full report from the Institute's research programme will be published as part of the Annual Report and as a whitepaper, "Relationship Orientation, the Critical Factor in Successful Global Logistics" which will be available to download from the Institute's web site in the coming weeks.
