Geodis Calberson international logistics selected to transport French wines to UK bonded warehouse

Geodis Calberson, part of the major international logistics group Geodis, has been selected by The Wine Society to bring French wines to its bonded warehouse in the UK.

The company will transport all of the wines selected by the Society from the Languedoc region in the South of France, over 100,000 cases a year, to the Society's warehouse in Stevenage.

The Wine Society, founded after the Great Exhibition of 1874, is a mutual run on not-for-profit lines to provide the highest possible quality of wines and services at the best possible prices to its members.

The Society, which was named Direct Wine Merchant of the Year by the International Wine Challenge, imports wines from around the world, including the very finest.

Members can also buy "en primeur" (before the wine is bottled) and store cases at the Society's temperature-controlled warehouse until the optimum time arrives at which to drink that particular vintage.

The extra business was awarded to Geodis Calberson after it had been working with The Wine Society for more than six months.

Steve Harris, of Geodis Wine Logistics, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen by The Wine Society to deliver wines from one of the largest French regions and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them.

"We offer guaranteed services which we always keep to and will work collaboratively in partnership with the Society to ensure its members receive the best service possible."

Geodis, the fourth-largest end-to-end provider of logistics in Europe, has a long pedigree of transporting fine wines, champagnes and spirits on the Continent.

Geodis Wine Logistics was launched 12 months ago as part of Geodis Calberson's expansion of operations in the UK.
