The Freight Transport Association has launched a new web discussion group specifically serving operators involved in the transport and welfare of animals. The Animal Transport Forum goes live at the beginning of October and FTA is inviting participation from all members engaged in animal transportation, ranging from farm deliveries to racehorses.
The objective of the group is to promote the active interchange of information affecting animal transport; to assist members of the forum in the day-to-day and long-term transport of all livestock; and to keep up-to-date with the latest legislation and equipment for this specialist sector of the transport industry.
The Animal Transport Forum is being managed for FTA by Peter Luck of P and L Luck Horse Transport. Mr Luck said, 'We hope that the forum will provide a practical and interesting exchange of information, news and know-how from throughout the animal transport community. I know that forums of this type operated by FTA in other sectors have proved very popular and useful to participants and we anticipate similar success in our own special field of interest.'
Those interested in joining the group should contact FTA's Ruth Norbury at rnorbury@fta.co.uk or on 07818 450414.
The Freight Transport Association represents the interests of companies moving goods by road, rail, sea and air. FTA members operate over 200,000 goods vehicles – almost half the UK fleet. In addition they consign over 90 per cent of the freight moved by rail and over 70 per cent of sea and air freight. Large numbers of FTA members are engaged in the transport of animals.
