This weekâs FTA and Freight by Water event will examine opportunities for water freight in the north of England.
During the event - scheduled to be held on Wednesday 26 November at the Holiday Inn Leeds â Wakefield, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) will launch its âMaking use of water freight â A guide for shippersâ document which is aimed at shippers of goods who might be considering water freight as a part of their supply chain solution.
Key-note speakers during the day will include members of the Canal & Rivers Trust Freight Advisory Group â David Quarmby and John Dodwell who will be speaking on âHow to make water freight work in the north.â

The main aim of the event will be to provide information to potential users of water freight services as a complement to road-based services, and during the day current options available in the north of England will also be considered â looking at how these are likely to develop over the next few years.
The free-of-charge one-day event of particular relevance to shippers, hauliers, forwarders and all those involved in the short-sea water freight industry, and delegate places at the event are still available.
