Awards for Excellence 2008
Finalists announced. The Fork Lift Truck Association has shortlisted 21 products as finalists in the Environment, Ergonomics, Safety and Innovation categories of the FLTA Awards for Excellence 2008. As usual, the winners will be decided in an open vote – and the Association is calling on everyone in the materials handling industry to take part in it.
"If you are employed in any work related to fork lift trucks, you are entitled to vote," says FLTA Chief Executive David Ellison. "That means everyone from the staff of a truck manufacturer or dealer, or a supplier of associated equipment and services, to those whose companies actually use the fork lifts."
He adds: "This is a serious responsibility, as our industry depends on the voters to ensure we highlight and reward the very best achievements."
Only votes cast using the official voting card will count. You can apply for a voting card by visiting the FLTA website (go to www.fork-truck.org.uk/awards), which also gives full details of each product in the shortlist of finalists.
They include entries from CMP Batteries, Continental Tyre Group, Copar Corporation, Crown, Curtis Instruments, Doosan, Jungheinrich, Komatsu, Linde, Mitsubishi, Norco Group, Pyroban Envirosafe, STILL and Toyota.
"Each and every one of the finalists' products is worthy of your consideration, whether as a buyer or a voter," says David Ellison, "but ultimately each category can only have one winner… and that's down to your votes."
Votes must reach the FLTA, on the official voting card, by Friday 1st February 2008.
You can be there!
The Awards ceremony takes place on Saturday 9th February 2008 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. This annual entertainment-packed gathering has been described by The Guardian as "the biggest event in the materials handling calendar".
Versatile songstress Amanda – a big hit at last year's Awards event – will demonstrate some other facets of her repertoire. Also on the bill is JD Memphis, and this year the band Vegas will keep everyone dancing into the small hours.
The FLTA advises that tickets and hotel rooms are selling out fast, so please book now to make sure you don't miss out.
