Fleet tracking services provider Cybit launch new trailer tracking application

Enhances Operators' reporting of trailer utilisation and security

Monitors and reports on temperature-controlled trailers

Cybit, the leading provider of telematics and fleet tracking services, has launched an advanced range of trailer tracking services. Cybit's Trailer Tracking application, which has direct connectivity to Fleetstar-Online's location-based services, provides operators with a wealth of management reporting that helps enhance the utilisation and security of its trailers.

In addition to core location and utilisation reporting, Fleetstar Trailer Tracking options include load security through the use of motion sensors and door monitoring. It also enables proactive temperature monitoring, for chilled or frozen distribution operations, by deploying independent probes or direct connectivity temperature recorders.

John Wisdom, Cybit's Sales & Marketing Director commented: "We estimate that for every HGV there are three trailers, so the market potential for this service is significant. The telematics market is somewhat polarised between trailer tracking and vehicle based systems. We are delighted to now deliver the same richness of management reporting for the trailer as has long been available for vehicles.

"Telematics is used to drive down fleet-expenditure; operators have indicated that visibility of trailer assets will enable them to realise additional layers of cost management opportunities. Our reporting suite measures trailer utilisation, hours run and provides opportunities for fleet reduction."

Cybit's Trailer Tracking can also interface directly to the leading refrigeration unit manufacturers microprocessors, although manufacturer approval is sought and certified on a customer-by-customer basis.

Cybit's Trailer Tracking combines battery-powered and vehicle engine power, when connected via suzie-coupling, to provide comprehensive live trailer tracking and location based information. When standing, the unit automatically reverts to battery power, significantly extending life. The trailer hardware weighs approximately 140gms and interfaces with Fleetstar's web-based vehicle management software.

When coupled, data is collated from the trailer every 20-seconds for the precise measurement of hours used and distances travelled. Configurable location-based reporting is also available when the trailer is stood-down daily, weekly or monthly.

Fleetstar-Online also includes a service management application that provides live visibility of trailer hours and ancillary equipment monitoring. Access to this data will assist operators plan and manage servicing and compliance.
