Prestigious order from freezer services company includes fixed-price, full-service parts-and-maintenance back-up
FKI Logistex® - a global leader in integrated material handling solutions - has won a major contract to supply Condor™ very-narrow-aisle (VNA), automated storage-and-retrieval systems (AS/RS) for six new Preferred Freezer Services® facilities planned for mid 2007. This prestigious contract, which includes a fixed-price, parts-and-maintenance back-up agreement, involves installation of 42 FKI Logistex Condor cranes, to be manufactured at FKI Logistex plant based in Worcester. This will bring to more than 100 the total number of FKI Logistex Condor cranes in operation in Preferred Freezer's full-service public refrigerated warehouses.
"Winning a contract for so many Condor VNA systems is a tremendous start to the year and represents a major order for our extensive and specialised UK manufacturing facilities located in Worcestershire," says Jerry Woodhouse, Managing Director, European Operations, FKI Logistex. "Our company has a history of success in providing VNA systems around the world to a wide range of companies wanting to significantly increase their throughput and efficiencies".
In addition to the new contract, a fixed-price, full-service, parts-and-maintenance agreement has been implemented for all sites using the Condor system. The contract budgets annual preventative maintenance and provides complete coverage for everyday and predictive maintenance, normal-use parts and emergency breakdown repairs. This provides valuable benefits for the customer as it avoids having to hire and train its own skilled personnel - with FKI Logistex absorbing all responsibility for service and maintenance.
The FKI Logistex Condor high-bay VNA solution is a hybrid crane, which stores and retrieves pallet-size loads in very narrow aisles. Top-guidance and the fully enclosed, heated cabin enable Preferred Freezer to achieve higher levels of throughput, accuracy and productivity in its freezer storage systems.
The all-electric Condor crane offers more uptime, fewer maintenance requirements, and more efficient power usage than competing solutions. The Condor operation uses "in-aisle" conductor rail to electrify the AC-powered hoist and charge the on-board traction battery, eliminating need for a battery changing or charging area and freeing up valuable floor space.
Delivery of the new Condor crane systems is scheduled to begin in June 2007.
