Brunton Shaw UK, in Worksop, is a successful manufacturer of high quality wire ropes for a wide range of applications. The company has placed an order for five cranes from East Kilbride based Konecranes UK Industrial Crane Division.
The largest crane is a 160 tonne SMTD model which will operate on an 18mt span. The SMT stands for SMT SMARTONĀ®, which is an intelligent, yet easy-to-use Human Interface to Machine (HIM) system keeping the user continuously up to date on not only the weight of the load but also its position relative to the available workspace. In addition, the crane monitors its own condition and recommends when and what kind of inspection or preventive maintenance should be performed. This way, the customer can better plan and minimize maintenance shutdowns, thereby maximizing uptime and saving costs. All cranes will also have Konecranes TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring and Reporting service where the cranes performance is being continuously monitored remotely and should anything arise then a Konecranes engineer can automatically be despatched to site, without any request or call from the client.
Two CXTD cranes are included, one at 20 tonnes for 26.5mt span and the other a 40 tonne model for 28mt span and the last two cranes ordered are 10 tonne CXTS models working on 8.5mt span. All are fitted with Konecranes state-of-the-art technology, including Konecranes DynAMove/DynADrive inverter variable speed control on cross and long travel motions and DynAHoist variable speed control on some of the hoists. Other features include Konecranes Remox Radio control on the CXTDs and Pendant on the CXTS cranes, festoon cross crane cables, upper and lower limit switches, anti-collision between cranes on the same track, end of travel limit switches and cross traverse limit switches. Also Konecranes ControlPro condition monitoring units are fitted to each hoist, the performance control unit that can extend the crane's life, enhance performance and safety, ensuring that maintenance requirements are scheduled to suit actual usage, and unscheduled shutdowns are avoided.
The order worth almost Ā£442k is to be delivered in two stages - the CXTD and CXTS models in July and the 160 tonne SMTD in September 2013.
