Paul Riddel Skips Ltd, based in Horncastle in Lincolnshire, has purchased the UK recycling industry's first Bobcat S630 skid-steer loader for use in the company's metal recycling and waste disposal operations.
Supplied by AMS Bobcat, the Scunthorpe-based authorised Bobcat dealer for Lincolnshire and South and East Yorkshire, the new S630 radial lift path skid-steer loader is designed and built to offer the highest levels of performance, efficiency and operator comfort.
At Paul Riddel Skips, the new S630 loader is used all day on the 2.2 acre site, sorting materials such as scrap metal, plastics, construction rubble and wood into piles, so that they can be loaded into dedicated containers by a fleet of excavators equipped with grabs and other attachments. The compact size and manoeuvrability of the S630 skid-steer loader are ideal for this application working in the spaces between the larger material handlers, providing the high performance and durability needed for this arduous application.

Simplified maintenance and serviceability are important features of the new generation S630 loader. A completely new engineering design coupled with improved durability further increases uptime. The S630 has been built to work long hours on demanding jobsites and requires minimal time for routine maintenance at the start of the day.
Powered by the Kubota 55.4 kW V3307-DI-TE3 kW Stage IIIA diesel engine, the S630 has an operating weight of 3496 kg, a rated operating capacity of 989 kg and a tipping load of 1978 kg. The standard hydraulic flow on the S630 has been increased by over 30% to 87.1 l/min, providing significantly better attachment performance. The high flow version of this loader, the S630H, offers a hydraulic flow of 115.5 l/min.
The standard maximum travel speed of the S630 is 11.4 km/h, but this can be increased to 18.8 km/h using an optional two-speed system. Traction has been increased by 15 to 20% to provide greater pushing and digging power. A larger fuel tank allows for longer work intervals between refuelling.
Attachments approved for use on the S630 have a post for the removable hose guide that keeps the hose secure, clean and protected when the attachment is not in use. The hydraulic quick couplers are mounted directly to the front plate of the lift arm. A guard bar extends out in front of the coupler for added protection.
Other design features ensuring maximum reliability of the new generation loaders include the extra strength 120 HSOC drive chains and the oversized axles and tubes.
A long established family run firm, Paul Riddel Skips recycles a wide range of materials and is a licensed asbestos removal specialist. The company recycles both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, with the majority sourced from redundant agricultural machinery such as tractors and combine harvesters as well as machine tools and other industrial equipment.
