Last minute challengers from the transport industry are being invited to join Transaid's London to Amsterdam cycle ride - a three-day event from Romford to Dam Square which begins on September 13.
Forty-five riders have already signed up to take part in the 335km ride, sponsored by bus and rail company Abellio, which organisers hope will raise more than £120,000.
Funds raised from the event will enable Transaid to continue its vital projects which save lives and reduce poverty for rural communities across Africa by providing them with better transport solutions.
Transaid's Chief Executive, Gary Forster, says: "Our first European cycle event from London to Paris was tough for the participants but they all had a fantastic time and raised a phenomenal sum for the charity. We hope this year's ride from London to Amsterdam will be just as much fun and, as more people are taking part, we are hoping the combined sponsorship total will be even higher."
Abellio's Assistant Operations Director, Lorna Murphy, who is participating alongside seven colleagues, says: "Abellio has worked with Transaid for a number of years and with our parent company being Dutch, we're delighted to be able to sponsor the London to Amsterdam challenge.
"We have all been training hard and our team has raised £15,000 so far. We hope to have smashed our target of £20,000 by the time we get to the finish line."
Joining Abellio for the ride includes teams and individuals from Norbert Dentressangle, DHL, Marks and Spencers, TfL, Clipper Logistics, Lafarge Tarmac, Atkins, Wincanton, Collect +, Crossrail, Bandvulc Tyres, Transaid, Sky High Technology, SKM, Delin Capital, Alpine Coaches, Transport Times, Goodyear Dunlop Tyres, and Backhouse Jones.
