One of the UK's largest independent electrical wholesale distributors, Eyre and Elliston has appointed SWR to manage the waste contract for their 56 sites across the country.
SWR will provide Eyre and Elliston with a fully integrated waste service, whereby general waste, recyclables and hazardous waste at each site will be managed through a single central contract.
Drawing on previous experience in this sector, having already implemented similar multi-site waste strategies, SWR will draw upon its large network of suppliers, along with its own vehicles and depots across the UK, to deliver a new streamlined waste management process.
Giles Whiteley, managing director of SWR, said: "Because we are not tied to any particular supplier or method of disposal we are able to tailor the best solution for each client. We are always looking at new and innovative ways in which to improve the waste management process to help clients' control costs and improve their recycling and sustainable environmental performance."
In the first year of the contract SWR expects to significantly improve recycling levels for Eyre and Elliston from 54% to 72%, while reducing their current expenditure by 4%; amounting to several thousand pounds a year.
SWR has already successfully installed a new battery recycling system on all 56 sites, which provides Eyre and Ellitson's customers with the facility to return old unwanted batteries for safe disposal.
David Monteith, commercial systems and fleet manager at Eyre and Elliston, said: "Our branches span from Carlisle in the North West and Morpeth in the North East to Brighton, Ashford and Canterbury on the South coast, and managing the various waste streams across this network was proving a challenge.
"However, the decision to transfer our waste contract to SWR is already paying dividends. I have been extremely impressed with not only their professionalism and proficiency, but also with the quality of their service. I am particularly pleased with the way in which they have managed the battery box installation in such a timely manner."
