The state-of-the-art facility, on the Hatfield Business Park in Frobisher Way, is made up of 42,000 sq ft of warehouse space and 9,000 sq ft of office space.
Employees from existing City Link depots in Luton, Cricklewood, Welwyn Garden City and Hemel Hempstead have been relocated into the new depot, which has undergone a £750,000 refurbishment.
The City Link Hatfield depot will oversee the distribution requirements of all customers previously served by Welwyn Garden City and Hemel Hempstead. The customer base previously handled by Luton and Cricklewood will be divided between Hatfield and other City Link depots.
More than 120 people are employed by City Link in Hatfield including 65 drivers. Between them they serve more than 500 customers covering an area from Royston down to Finchley, and from Ware to Berkhamsted.
Mick Hegarty, General Manager of City Link's new Hatfield depot, said the move had proven essential due to increased demand from a growing customer base within the region.
Mr Hegarty said the new depot would allow City Link to expand its operations locally and to continue to improve and enhance its value added services for existing and future customers.
He said: "This new facility is a sound investment for us here at City Link as the needs of our customers continually evolve and as a business we have to be able to continue to meet them.
"With this new facility not only will we be better equipped to do that for the customers we have today, but also for new customers over the years to come."
