Exotec to automate new South Korean fashion warehouse with Skypod system

MUSINSA’s new logistics facility will use Exotec’s Skypod robotic system to improve fulfilment efficiency

Warehouse robotics firm Exotec has secured its first customer deployment in South Korea after partnering with fashion retailer MUSINSA to automate a new logistics facility in Yeoju.

The deal marks a significant step in Exotec’s expansion across the Asia-Pacific region as demand for faster and more flexible e-commerce fulfilment continues to grow.

MUSINSA, one of South Korea’s leading fashion platforms, will use Exotec’s Skypod robotic system and Deepsky warehouse execution software at the new automated warehouse.

The retailer supports a mix of independent Korean fashion labels and luxury brands, handling hundreds of thousands of stock keeping units (SKUs) across its logistics operations.

Inventory volumes can fluctuate sharply during seasonal launches and major online sales events, creating pressure on fulfilment speed and warehouse efficiency.

Exotec said its autonomous Skypod robots are designed to help address those challenges by operating within storage racks up to 14 metres high and retrieving products in two minutes or less.

The system is also designed to scale as order volumes increase, allowing warehouse capacity to expand without requiring a complete infrastructure overhaul.

MUSINSA expects the automated facility to improve picking speeds, boost throughput and strengthen inventory visibility, particularly during peak trading periods.

The company also believes the system will help improve labour efficiency while creating a long-term automation platform capable of supporting future business growth.

Romain Moulin, chief executive of Exotec, described South Korea as “the most dynamic e-commerce market in Asia”.

“In particular, logistics demands in the apparel sector have increased significantly due to the global popularity of K-fashion,” he said.

“We are delighted to work with an innovative partner like MUSINSA, and this project is an important indicator of our continued expansion in the APAC market.”

The partnership represents Exotec’s first deployment in the Korean market and adds to a growing international customer base that includes brands such as Uniqlo, GAP Inc. and Oxford Industries.

Exotec said its robotics and software systems are designed to help businesses adapt more quickly to changing supply chain pressures and evolving operational demands.
