Evolution SoniXs TAI-6 Base and Pro permit cross strapping of highest technical standards

Mosca GmbH now offers its fully automated tandem machine for cross strapping, SoniXs TAI-6, as „Base“ and „Pro“ models. The models are mechanically identical and, with their ultrasonic technology, they provide reliable, quick and safe cross strapping. This is ideal for industries such as print or in the logistic area. Thanks to the CE marking from the factory, additional protective elements are not necessary. The unitised Standard-6 strap path with its open construction can be easily accessed. The high-end model, SoniXs TAI-6 Pro, is supplied with a superior machine control and a touch panel as Human Machine Interface (HMI). Thanks to its easy control, the SoniXs TAI-6 Base is suited as a high-quality entry model.

Both of the SoniXs TAI-6 models consist of a compact combination of the machines SoniXs TR-6 and SoniXs TRI-6. They combine transverse strapping and inline strapping in one workflow without turning the product. The resulting cross strapping secures various products accurately and reliable. The SoniXs TAI-6 offers highest process safety, which is a huge advantage for industries with a high throughput and high machine availability, such as the print industry. Welding is achieved through the unique ultrasonic technology SoniXs, which Mosca has patented. There are obvious advantages: SoniXs sealing units work particularly efficient and are instantly available as they do not require any pre-heating. Energy consumption is minimal as mechanical vibrations are only produced during the time of welding. The seam achieves a strength of up to 85 per cent of the tensile strength of the strap and is therefore absolutely stable.

The SoniXs TAI-6 Base and Pro are both built on the same high-performance mechanics. They differ in their control systems, their handling and the type of actuators used. In addition, both machine variations contain CE marking from the factory. The hold-down device and the back stop have been specially designed to pose no danger and do not need any additional protection. Customers can therefore easily integrate the strapping system into their production line without any additional safety measures.

Shared components concept: standardized Mosca quality

The newly unitised Standard-6 strap path is the basis for the easily accessible construction of both machines. With all of the core components easily accessible, maintenance or cleaning are quickly accomplished. The strap path is dismantled easily and tool free, and can be put back together within a few steps. “We continually develop our machines to standardize core components,” explains Adrian Ritzhaupt, Head of Product Management at the Mosca GmbH. “Through modular construction and a functional shared component concept, we are able to offer best Mosca quality at an attractive price.” The saving the company achieves through its shared component concept during production, is passed on to its customers. As a result, the SoniXs TAI-6 Pro is considerably more cost-efficient compared to the previous model, while being more flexible and offering higher performance at the same time.

High quality for entry-level

“With our “Base” models, our customers receive high Mosca quality even at entry level,” explains Ritzhaupt. “Especially for the print industries, a cost-efficient tandem inline application has been missing, but with the SoniXs TAI-6 Base, we can now offer a solution. It also helps us to continue to remain competitive on growing newspaper markets such as in Asia.” The SoniXs TAI-6 Base is equipped with a MSCB-1 control panel and a keyboard. Pneumatic actuators reliably account for a smooth flow of the strapping processes.

High-end for highest requirements

The SoniXs TAI-6 Pro is located at the high-end and meets highest requirements. It operates with electro mechanical actuators, and has a specialized B&R machine control. The HMI via touch panel functions language independent and enables intuitive operating, making the machine extremely versatile in any conditions worldwide. Depending on the prior knowledge of the operator, different levels can be activated to optimally protect the machine and its individual process steps from operating errors. Detailed error messages combined with support in trouble shooting further facilitates working with the SoniXs TAI-6 Pro. If required, errors can be diagnosed remotely from Waldbrunn. This is possible due to the full network capability of the machine.

Compared with the Base model, the Pro version offers numerous options to pre-program the strapping processes and adjust it fully automatically to different requirements, thanks to its control system. With a strap frame size of 600x600 mm, the Pro model of the SoniXs TAI-6 straps up to 37 packs per minute, the Base variation achieves up to 30 packs.

“Performance information such as strapping per minute naturally depends on factors like product and production environment,” says Ritzhaupt. “Both of our versions of the SoniXs TAI-6 standardly provide high throughput with high availability. Both these characteristics account for the machine’s particularly high process security and reliability.”
