DTG appointed to deliver power for new sick kids hospital

Following a successful tender, Dieselec Thistle Generators (DTG) has been selected to supply and install the high voltage back-up power supply for the new Royal Hospital for Sick Children and Department of Clinical Neurosciences in Edinburgh.

Kenny Berrie, Senior Technical Manager at DTG, said: “We have an extensive track record in successful delivery of projects for the NHS thanks to our dedicated HV team, so are ideally placed to provide this specialist installation for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.”

DTG will supply three 1.7MVA high voltage generator sets and high voltage switchboard along with fully attenuated plant room design, noise reduction to 60dba at three metres with all sets running, and full integration package including the hospital HV network. A full factory witness test will be carried out prior to installation.

This will be DTG’s first contract delivered in line with BIM (Building Information Modelling)* which means 3D drawings will be supplied during the design phase.

Providing a comprehensive range of dedicated, critical, children's services, including its own accident and emergency department, the development will adjoin the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and provide care for more than 34,000 patients a year.
