Three DPDgroup linehaul drivers have proved they are the best in the UK by topping the Mercedes-Benz FleetBoard Drivers' League, a Europe-wide competition that analyses driving performance.
Three drivers; Kevin Murray (Carlisle), Simon Pountain (Croydon) and David Tuckett (Exeter) have been ranked as the top three drivers from all the fleets in the UK Drivers' League. DPDgroup was also ranked as the top overall UK fleet in the study.
The league analyses overall driving performance and looks specifically at economical driving skills in terms of fuel efficiency and preventative driving skills such as forward planning. FleetBoard then also looks at the degree of difficulty in terms of vehicle weight, gradient and average speed, also evaluating the use of the auxiliary braking system.
As a result of their exceptional driving skills, each of the three DPDgroup drivers has won a "Mercedes-Benz World" driving experience, which includes a trip to Brooklands circuit and a performance driving session. In addition, each driver was awarded £100 worth of vouchers to help them celebrate their victory in style.
Dwain McDonald, DPD's CEO, said: "I'm really pleased for Kevin, Simon and David, they deserve all the plaudits and the prizes. To be consistently the best at what you do day-in, day-out is all we can ask of any of our staff and a fantastic achievement. For our fleet to have been identified by Mercedes-Benz as the best in the UK is testament to the hard work and dedication of our drivers, but it also says a lot about the excellent training regime we have in place.
