A ground-breaking IT communications platform that is driving up standards across the logistics industry has won an award for its innovative use of technology.
Palletwaysâ Digital Information Hub beat competition from across the West Midlands to win the âBest Use of Technologyâ prize at the Express and Star Business Awards.
The platform was launched last year in the UK after 18 months of development and testing with network members by Palletwaysâ in house IT team. It is the largest single development undertaken by Europeâs premier palletised express freight network. An industry first, the Digital Information Hub provides extensive operational and customer data in real time to improve processes, communication, traffic planning and use of vehicles.
The development is being replicated across the fourteen countries served by the group across Europe.
Award judges praised the impact of the innovation in improving efficiency and adding value by providing âreal-timeâ updates to users from a single central source.
Luis Zubialde, Palletways UK Managing Director, said: âThis award rightly recognises the success of our drive to provide innovative solutions that improve the efficiency of our operations, our membersâ operations and add value for our customers.
âIt also positions Palletways alongside the very best businesses and not just those within the logistics sector, which is evidence of the progress we have made since the system was rolled out last year.â
âI am happy to report that our members are embracing this new technology and welcome the positive impact it is having for them and for their customers.â
âIâd like to offer special thanks to our operations and IT teams for the superb work they have done to launch this product successfully. This award is recognition of their talent and efforts.â
