Despatchlab users will be able to ask questions about stock, orders and delivery performance in plain English
Diamond Logistics is pushing deeper into artificial intelligence with a major upgrade to its Despatchlab logistics management platform.
The latest development introduces customisable dashboards and new Agentic AI capabilities aimed at helping businesses analyse fulfilment, shipping and warehouse data more easily.
Despatchlab brings together fulfilment, multi-carrier shipping and warehouse management in one system.
Diamond Logistics said the upgrade is designed to give users clearer insight into operational performance without requiring them to build complex reports manually.
The new dashboards can be tailored to show information including stock levels, order volumes, delivery performance and customer activity.
Users can choose which metrics are most important to their business and create a personalised view of the platform.
Diamond said the system has also been designed so that additional functions can be introduced as customer needs change.
One of the most significant additions is a conversational AI agent which allows users to ask questions about their logistics data in plain English.
Kate Lester, chief executive and founder of Diamond Logistics, said a business owner could ask the system: "show me the stock levels and order volumes for our top ten products over the last twelve months, add trend lines, and recommend replenishment quantities for the next six months."
The AI can then generate dashboards, reports and operational insights based on the request.
Ms Lester said: “Within moments, the Agent can generate visual dashboards, bespoke reports and actionable insights, helping to turn raw operational data into information that businesses can use.”
She added that the aim was to make information more accessible to users regardless of their technical experience.
“Ultimately, it’s about removing the barriers between users and their data, making it easier for everyone to access the information they need, regardless of their technical ability.”
The AI agent is currently in advanced testing and is expected to be released later this year.
Diamond said the latest Despatchlab features have been developed using scalable architecture and a combination of large language models.
The dashboard builder is powered by Claude Opus, while the conversational Agentic AI functions are being developed and tested using OpenAI technologies.
The company said using different AI models gives it flexibility to select technology for specific applications and continue upgrading the platform as the technology develops.
The investment forms part of a wider AI strategy at Diamond Logistics.
Earlier this year, the company launched an internal AI Apprenticeship Programme involving staff from different departments.
The initiative is intended to explore practical ways artificial intelligence can improve processes and support employees, network partners and customers.
Diamond said it wants its AI development to be based on real operational problems rather than adopting new technology simply for its own sake.
Ms Lester said: “Technology should simplify logistics, not complicate it.”
She said Diamond had continued to invest in Despatchlab as part of its efforts to help customers make faster decisions and improve service.
“These latest developments to the platform take us to a whole new level - moving beyond just traditional reporting.”
She added: “Instead of searching through data, our customers can simply ask a question and receive meaningful answers in seconds.”
Diamond plans to continue investing in AI and automation while developing Despatchlab as an in-house logistics platform.
Ms Lester said the company remained focused on “creating technology that gives businesses more time to focus on their day-to-day operation while Despatchlab handles the complexity behind the scenes”.
The company said further AI capabilities are expected to be added as development of the platform continues.
