Deker supplies ten more trailers to Pall-Ex

Trailers provide flexible freighting options. The Deker Trailer Group, the specialist supplier of trucks and trailers, has delivered a major order for ten trailers to logistics company Pall-Ex to support the company's expansion programme. The order, Deker's largest single order to date, includes a mixture of the company's popular double deck Ecodeck fuel saver trailers and a number of straightframes, including two with tail-lift. All trailers will be supplied in the distinctive Pall-Ex livery.

This is the second order from Pall-Ex this year and Deker also supplies a number of Pall-Ex's network members, bringing the total in the network to in excess of 40 trailers including over 20 Ecodecks. The Ecodeck trailers combine a practical, double deck internal layout with the aerodynamically designed sloping roof that has noticeably improved fuel consumption (at least 12% savings have been recorded by some customers).

This order also included ten Renault Premium Curtainside Rigids, three Renault Magnums and a Renault Premium tractor unit, all in the Pallex Logistics branding, supplied by the Allports Truck Centre Group.

Pall-Ex chose to continue using Deker Trailers to supply its increasing requirement for trailers because of the good working relationship that has been established between the two companies. "Deker understands our business and the needs of pallet networks," commented Tony Mellor, Commercial Director at Pall-Ex. "We have been working together for over two years and we have always found Deker ready to accommodate any new requirements we had. We are impressed with their flexibility and the additional options built into the contract, such as extra feature lighting, and the ability to deliver all ten trailers in Pall-Ex livery within the contract price."

Deker Trailers, part of the Allports Truck Centre Group, specialises in the supply and servicing of a comprehensive range of truck and trailer solutions to the logistics industry. In less than two years the company has established itself as one of the foremost trailer suppliers with a range of options for the purchase, rental or hire of trailers and a support and maintenance package second to none.

Pall-Ex will be using the trailers in its growing Pall-Ex Logistics business for trunking consignments to London and for general haulage throughout the country. The Pall-Ex service offering includes a consolidated trunking service for London network members, dropping freight at their depots for local onward delivery. This helps to provide flexibility within the network for larger volumes of freight and rapid reaction to sudden or unexpected increases in load.

Deker Trailers Joint Managing Director Paul Sanders said: "This is the largest single order we have received so far and Pall-Ex is one of our major customers. We have customised the trailers to the specifications they wanted, including LED ropelighting to illuminate the entire length of the vehicle.

"Our strength is in providing flexible options both in trailer configurations and in the acquisition package – from outright sale to day-on-day spot hire. Our maintenance and support packages ensure that our customers always have exactly what vehicles they need 365 days a year."
