Buffaload Logistics, based near Huntingdon Cambridgeshire. Darren Morton has joined the team as Business Development Manager to oversee new contracts and maximise efficiencies throughout the companyâs fast-expanding UK operation.
With 20 yearsâ experience in the chilled food industry, Darren joins Buffaload from Co-operative Retail Logistics where, as National Planning Manager, he was responsible for the smooth delivery of perishable goods from farms and factories throughout the UK to Co-op RDCs.
A key achievement during this time was the remodelling of the Co-opâs UK trunking network which, in the wake of the companyâs acquisition of Somerfield, needed to absorb increased pallet volumes. Buffaloadâs cross-docking facilities in Ellington and Avonmouth were called upon and continue to play a major role in providing the Co-op with a premier transport and distribution service.
âThe Opportunity arose to join Buffaload Logistics and with it, the chance to join an exciting and fast-growing company that is already making a name for itself in the chilled consolidation business,â says Morton, âBy maximising the use of the Buffaload network and fleet, which includes well over 70 temperature controlled double-deck trailers and cross- dock sites in Huntingdon , Wigan and Avonmouth, we are in a position to offer cost-effective, sustainable rates to suppliers, whilst cutting âload milesâ and reducing our Carbon Footprint.â
Julie Feltwell, Buffaload Logisticsâ Managing Director commented:
âWe are delighted that Darren has joined our team. His in-depth knowledge of chilled delivery networks and consolidation will take us a step closer to our goal of being the UKâs chilled consolidator and double-deck trunking supplier of choice for retail and food distribution.â
