The tram train proposals for through running between the Sheffield supertram system and the main line network to Rotherham present a prototype for Britain of a way of improving public transport that has been used in a number of other cities particularly in Germany. Simon will outline these and other enhancements that are proposed for rail infrastructure in the London and North Eastern region in control period 4.
