To celebrate the achievement, Combilift launched its largest-ever global competition
A landmark forklift has helped lift thousands of children out of crisis, as Irish materials handling specialist Combilift turned a major production milestone into a six-figure charitable donation.
The Monaghan-based manufacturer marked the completion of its 100,000th forklift by raising and donating €100,000 to UNICEF’s Children’s Emergency Fund, supporting vulnerable children affected by conflict, climate disasters and humanitarian emergencies around the world.
To celebrate the achievement, Combilift launched its largest-ever global competition, offering customers the chance to win the one-off 100,000th multidirectional Combi-CBE, dubbed the “Golden Forklift”. Every euro raised through ticket sales was pledged to UNICEF Ireland, with the campaign generating €56,500 before the company increased the total donation to €100,000.
At a cheque presentation ceremony in Monaghan, Combilift chief executive and co-founder Martin McVicar said the initiative went far beyond celebrating a production figure. “This campaign was designed not only to celebrate a major manufacturing achievement for Combilift, but also to make a meaningful difference beyond the factory floor,” he said. “By supporting UNICEF, we are supporting one of the world’s most effective humanitarian organisations and helping children who need it most.”
The donation was formally presented by Mr McVicar to Owen Buckley, UNICEF Ireland’s head of corporate partnerships, alongside business development manager Michaela Plunkett.
Mr Buckley said the contribution would have an immediate impact as winter approaches. “As we enter the winter season, our priority is ensuring children affected by war and natural disasters have access to warm clothing, safe shelter and continued education,” he said. “This generous contribution from Combilift will help UNICEF respond quickly to urgent needs.”
The winning ticket was bought by Kareen Farrell, who travelled to Combilift’s headquarters to take delivery of the unique Golden Forklift. Reacting to her win, she said: “I was absolutely delighted when I heard I had won, as I’m never lucky. My dad shared the competition details and bought a ticket to support UNICEF because it’s a children’s charity that helps children all over the world, so winning the forklift was an incredible bonus.”
Before reaching its new owner, the Golden Forklift was unveiled at the IMHX exhibition in the UK and toured major European trade shows, drawing strong international attention and highlighting Combilift’s global reach alongside its commitment to social responsibility.
